An expanded forum of the Tzohar rabbinical organization is scheduled to gatherMonday at the Park Hotel in Jerusalem and discuss the different halakhic (Jewish Law) and social – public angles of the influence of turning Sunday into an official day offin Israel. Before making a decision, the rabbis will hear a review of the matter by therelevant authorities: President Uriel Lin of the Tel Aviv Chamber of Commerce, Chairman Avi Kaminsky of the managers of education departments in local authorities and Member of Knesset Zvulun Orlev (Jewish Home) one of the initiators of a bill that would bring about the change.

After the review and discussion of the matter, there will be either be a vote or a vote will be held later – by phone if necessary – if there is a need to check other sources. Among the focal points: will the change reduce the desecration of the Sabbath? How will the move affect family unity? What will be the impact on incomeand the economy?
